What is WAIS?
WAIS (pronounced "wayz") stands for Wide Area Information Service. WAIS
is an Internet search tool that is based on the Z39.50 standard. The
Z39.50 standard describes a protocol, or set of rules, for
computer-to-computer information retrieval.
